The aim of the course is for students to acquire a thorough understanding of the essential elements of an international contract and the problems posed by its drafting, and of the fundamentals of international commercial arbitration and investment arbitration
Prerequisiti
A good knowledge of international law and civil law, as well as the fundamental principles of private and procedural international law, is required
Metodi didattici
The course will consist of lectures and workshops. The lectures will be supported by slides and documents uploaded on the kiro page. The workshops will take place in class. A simulation of an arbitral proceedings will be organised as well. and will focus on solving practical cases.
Verifica Apprendimento
Oral exam covering the three parts of the course aimed at testing the student's ability to apply the notions learned during the course to the solution of practical cases

Contenuti
The course will be divided into three parts. The first one will be devoted to international commercial dispute resolution between private parties, and in particular, to arbitration and Brussels I Recast Regulation. The second to the law applicable to international contracts, with particular reference to the Rome I Regulation and the 1980 Vienna Convention on the Sale of Goods (CISG). The third to international investment law, and in particular ICSID arbitration.
