The student will learn the basics of molecular genetics and cytogenetics techniques and their practical applications in diagnostics and research.

The students will have an initial frontal lesson to explain the laboratory techniques and good laboratory practices, and then will spend 10 hours in the lab performing experiments under the direct supervision of tutors.

Contenuti
In practice, students will learn how to extract and quantify DNA, how to perform a PCR reaction, evaluate PCR products by agarose gel electrophoresis, purify the PCR products, perform and purify a Sanger sequencing reaction, and analyze an electropherogram obtained after sequencing on an automated capillary DNA analyzer.
