Syllabus
Obiettivi Formativi
Il corso si focalizza su diversi tipi di disuguaglianze economiche tra paesi e al loro interno, come ad esempio la distribuzione diseguale del reddito e della ricchezza. Gli obiettivi sono: 1. introdurre il concetto di disuguaglianza e la sua misurazione 2. rivedere la disuguaglianza mondiale in una prospettiva storica 3. discutere le sue forze sottostanti. Il corso introdurrà i principali dibattiti sul tema della disuguaglianza globale e si occuperà della letteratura più recente, incluso il recente lavoro di Branko Milanovic, Thomas Piketty e Florencia Torche. Saranno evidenziate sia le esperienze dei paesi sviluppati sia quelle dei paesi in via di sviluppo. Gli argomenti includono, ma non sono limitati a: curva dell'elefante della disuguaglianza globale, cause della disuguaglianza globale, previsioni di disuguaglianza globale e convergenza di reddito, disuguaglianza di reddito e ricchezza in Africa e Asia, disuguaglianza nei paesi Bric, disuguaglianza di reddito nei paesi sviluppati e mobilità intergenerazionale nel mondo. Gli studenti avranno anche a disposizione rapporti sulla disuguaglianza mondiale e blog sulla disuguaglianza. Ogni sessione combinerà l'insegnamento frontale con il lavoro di gruppo interattivo.

Il corso adotta una modalità di didattica mista che comprende lezioni frontali, discussioni e attività in gruppo.
Verifica Apprendimento
il corso sarà valutato con un elaborato di 3000 parole (50%) e una prova scritta (50%).
