Abstract:
The MEG experiment has been taking data at the Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland) since 2008 to search for the rare decay @m^+->e^+@c. In order to reduce the huge accidental background, it is crucial to reach a high resolution on the e^+ time m easurement through a dedicated Timing Counter detector. We report the methods for calibrating and the performance achieved by the Timing Counter in the early phase of the experiment.
