The treatment of the various aspects of cancer is carried out considering the continuous evolution of medical oncology, in its diagnostic and therapeutic aspects. The course of Oncology aims to provide the student with the essential notions to understand: - the basic notions of the diagnostic and therapeutic workup of the most frequent cancers; - the basic principles of antineoplastic treatments, their side effects and the supportive care - the importance of multidisciplinarity in Oncology - the concept of simultaneous care and palliative care
Course Prerequisites
Understanding the topics covered in the Oncology module requires the student to have knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, general biology/pathology. They must also be familiar with internal medicine and general concepts of epidemiology and pharmacology
Teaching Methods
Lectures; clinical cases from clinical practice will be used as examples
Assessment Methods
Written test: 17 multiple-choice questions (1.4 points each) and 2 open-ended questions (3 points each) in 40 minutes
