Knowing how to perform a rectal exam, palpate the abdomen and testicles, scrotum trans illumination, recognize a bladder globe
Knowing how to interpret a complete urine examination, urine culture, semen analysis and seminal culture
Know the meaning of a hematuria, bacteriuria and leucocyturia
Know the catheters currently used and be able to perform a bladder catheterization
Know how to identify the localization of urinary infections (urethra, prostate, epididymis, bladder, excretory system)
Know how to explain and define the risk and consequences of sexually transmitted diseases
Knowing the details and significance of urodynamic examinations, urethrocystoscopy and other strumental exams in urology
Know how to explain to the patient a radiological report
Recognize the urological urgencies (acute urinary retention, priapism, testicular torsion, renal colic, urological trauma)
Know the symptoms and the basic diagnostics of tumors of the testis, penis, prostate, bladder and kidney
Being able to understand and to explain to the patient a histological report
Knowing the tumor markers and their diagnostic and prognostic meanings
Know how to explain to the patient the sense of an oncological follow-up
At the end of the course, students should be able to :
- Perform a clinical examination of a patient with a suspected kidney or urinary tract disease
- Know what are the commonest tools supporting clinical examinations and their diagnostic implications
- Know for each disease :
- What is (definition)
- How relevant is (epidemiology)
- Why and how it develops (etiology, pathophysiology)
- Which are the clinical and instrumental features and how to make a diagnosis
- Which is the clinical course (natural history, complications)
- What to do and where (therapy, hospital- or home-based)
