The aim of the Gastreonterology course is to teach the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to the patient with gastro-intestinal and liver disorders, with particular reference to the aspects of differential diagnosis.
Course Prerequisites
Having learnt the anatomy, histology and physiology of the gastrointestinal tract. Having passed the exam of medical and surgical semeiotics.
Teaching Methods
Student-teacher lessons with discussion of clinical cases.
Assessment Methods
Oral exam with open questions in order to assess the skills of diagnostic approach to the patient affected by gastrointestinal and liver disorders, with particular reference to the aspects of differential diagnosis.

Contents
For each individual clinical situation involving gastroenterology, students will be provided with the means needed to use and interpret the most common biohumoral and instrumental tests necessary to confirm the diagnostic suspicion made on the basis of case history and objective examinations obtained at the patient’s bedside. All digestive diseases will be dealt with in the course, which is therefore not limited to the topics dealt with in the student-teacher lessons.
