Primo Semestre (29/09/2025 - 30/01/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The aim of the course is the acquisition of the basic principles of General Pharmacology (Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics) and Special Pharmacology, the understanding of drug classes directly and indirectly related to dental practice (their molecular mechanisms, pharmacodinamics and pharmacokinetics, and their therapeutic employment). Lastly the adverse reaction.

Course Prerequisites

Understanding of the basics of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry are needed to better approch the course.

Teaching Methods

Frontal lessons or on-line lessons (according to University of Pavia guidelines). For the conduct of the lectures, PowerPoint presentations are used and made available to the students in the section dedicated to the course on the Moodle platform KIRO.

Assessment Methods

Some questions need only one correct answer, other questions need more than one correct answers. The exam will be singular and will consist of a total of 34 questions, 17 related to General Pharmacology and 17 related to Special Pharmacology. The evaluation will be expressed in thirtieths.

Texts

All the material necessary for the preparation of the student will be provided during the course.
To in-depth studies, following texts are advised:
Bertram G. Katzung
Farmacologia Generale e clinica
XI Edizione
PICCIN

Massimo Collino, Carla Cicala, Armando Ialenti
Farmacologia Generale
UTET Universitaria
