At the end of the course the student will recognize, diagnose and deal with simple cases of the dental implants and implant-supported prostheses. In particular, the student know implant systems and their components, learn and know the most important factors related to the patient that improve the prognosis of the implants, know the anatomical differences between the tissues around the teeth and dental implants, know what are the main evidence on the success and survival of implants and what are the determining factors with particular emphasis on periodontology, diagnosing the main peri-implant disease, recognize the indications for the treatment of peri-implant diseases, recognize and use appropriately the main tools used for implants, plan the maintenance of the implants.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge in anatomy, dental material, stomatologic special pathology, gnatology, dental hygiene, oral surgery, periodontology.
Teaching Methods
The teaching of this module consists of lectures of the teacher with the help of videopresentations with details and diagrams on the blackboard. Students are also suggested to discuss topics independently and then present and discuss together.
Assessment Methods
At the end of the course the final assessment takes place through a written exam with open questions. The vote is expressed in thirtieths.
