Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide students with theoretical and clinical knowledge for the correct planning of periodontal treatments, including surgical therapy. Students will be able to learn indications, contraindications, objectives, and limits of the main periodontal surgical techniques, aimed at correcting lesions caused by periodontitis or mucogingival deformities.

Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of anatomy, histology, microbiology, general pathology, oral and dental pathology, and periodontology. In particular, knowledge of the following aspects is required:
- anatomical and histological characteristics of periodontal tissues,
- periodontal diseases (classification, epidemiology, microbiology, prevention, diagnosis and non-surgical therapy).

Teaching Methods

Lectures integrated with presentations and discussions of clinical cases.

Assessment Methods

Oral exam designed to assess the knowledge acquired by the student in relation to the course content. The exam focuses on at least three topics covered during lectures and further developed by the student through the use of reference texts.
