Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
1. Independently navigate international scientific literature in the field of psychology, using scientific search engines such as PubMed and Google Scholar, along with effective source-selection strategies.
2. Understand scientific manuscripts in English, recognizing their structure, communicative purposes, and recurring terminology.
3. Possess the foundational skills to rework and communicate scientific information in English appropriately.
4. Participate actively in scientific discussions conducted in English.

Passing the exam grants eligibility but does not provide an official English language certification, which instead requires exams administered by accredited bodies (e.g., Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL).

Course Prerequisites

None. A basic knowledge of English (B1 level) is recommended, as it is useful for following the reading and interaction activities.

- Lectures with the instructor

- Guided analysis of scientific articles
- Plenary discussions in English

Assessment Methods

The course includes an assessment for eligibility, consisting of:

- A written test with multiple-choice questions on the course materials
- An oral presentation or scientific poster prepared in small groups, based on an article agreed upon during the course

3. Written and oral scientific communication
- Principles of effective scientific communication
- Summarizing and reworking information
- Language for academic presentations
- Introduction to preparing scientific posters
- Critical use of artificial intelligence to support study and scientific writing

4. Presentations and discussion
- Techniques for designing slides for oral presentations
