Course Objectives

The course aims to acquire technical skills relating to the setup and management of Artificial Nutrition, more specifically oral and tube-based Enteral Nutrition in clinical practice.

Teaching Methods

The course is organized into interactive lectures and practical exercises in the classroom (viewing NE materials, nutritional mixes, drafting NE prospectuses).

Role of the Dietitian in Enteral Nutrition How to develop an enteral nutrition program (indications for EN, objectives, needs assessment, type of access, choice of formula, infusion method, monitoring) Review of EN materials: tubes, stoma kits, infusion sets, bags, feeding pumps Types of nutritional formulas (nutritional characteristics) and rationale for use; Oral nutritional supplements and rationale for use Complications of EN and their management in clinical practice.
