The Artificial Nutrition module aims to provide basic knowledge about malnutrition and catabolism but also to show the procedures for Nutritional Status Assessment. The module will address the Artificial Nutrition choice algorithm and the nutritional composition of mixtures for Artificial Nutrition. Moreover, the Artificial Nutrition module will discuss about the i) access route, ii) management and iii) complications attributable both to Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition.
Course Prerequisites
Understanding the topics covered in the Artificial Nutrition module requires the student to be in possession of the introductory notions of anatomy and applied biology, basics of nutrition and dietary methodologies provided in the first and second year of the course.
