At the end of the course the student will gain a basic understanding of the clinical and epidemiological sides of disease control and eradication
Course Prerequisites
Students are expected to have a general knowledge of clinical microbiology, and the main microrganisms (viruses, bacteria, parasites). Notions about the life cycles of the most important parasites causing human disease (e.g.Malaria, Amebiasis, Schistosomiasis) should be recalled from the Clinical Microbiology course.

Lectures, seminars, bedside teaching on ID ward where appropriate
Assessment Methods
Viva examination or a mix of multiple choice quiz tests and open-ended questions on the epidemiology main infectious diseases, their diagnosis and treatment options, often presented through a clinical vignette
