Overview

Date/time interval

Primo Semestre (24/09/2025 - 16/01/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide not only the basic notions of histology and microscopic anatomy of the organs of the human body but also the concept of "form is function" to establish the normal structural / functional conditions opposed to those considered pathological. For each tissue, the latest discoveries in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering will be extensively presented and discussed.

Course Prerequisites

Good knowledge of cytology as well as some basic notions of genetics

Teaching Methods

The lectures will be facilitated by using PowerPoint presentations full of images, videos, and diagrams, which will help students remember, in the best possible way, the concepts learned in the classroom.
The material presented during the lessons is made available online on the teacher's website. At the end of the course, the student will have achieved those skills that will allow him to transfer the knowledge acquired to the reality that surrounds him, applying it, particularly to the tissue constitution of the human body.

Assessment Methods

The exam takes place in the form of an oral interview. It includes an initial recognition of histological preparations under an optical microscope for students enrolled in the medical course and who have had the opportunity to attend the laboratories.
General questions describing the main morpho-functional characteristics of tissues will be asked to students of courses other than the medical one.
All students will conclude the interview with questions about microscopic anatomy.
