The course aims to provide students with the tools that are necessary to understand English texts in scientific fields, using real IELTS academic reading papers.
Course Prerequisites
B1 level of English is preferable (course target is B2), but there will be extra lessons with an ADL to help students with a low level.
Teaching Methods
The course includes 12 lessons with the main teacher and CEL (Collaboratore ed Esperto Linguistico) at a B1/B2 level, and supporting lessons with the ADL (Adestratore Linguistico), especially for lower-level students.
Assessment Methods
The English exam consists of a 1.5 hour written test that is the same as the IELTS reading paper (40 questions to answer about 3 academic texts). The exam mark is pass/fail (idoneità ) and the target level is B2/IELTS band score 5.5, i.e. 19/40.

Contents
The course uses IELTS academic reading texts to introduce and practise the skills that are necessary to understand written English (skimming and scanning; understanding new words from their context/similarity to Italian (Latin roots); becoming familiar with the structure of English sentences etc. (focusing on differences between Italian and English). Extra lessons will accompany the main course, especially focused on lower-level students, but open to everyone.
