The goal is to acquire the ability to design synthesis of molecules of reasonable complexity. For this, each part of the program includes a written exercise that allows the student and teacher to verify the skills achieved.
Course Prerequisites
It is mandatory to have attended the Organic Chemistry I course.
Teaching Methods
The course is based on lectures and each part of the program includes a written exercise that allows the student and teacher to verify the skills achieved.
Assessment Methods
The exam consists of a written and an oral test. There are two intermediate written tests.
This advanced course of Organic Chemistry completes the presentation of the most important classes of organic molecules, including the natural ones (fats and proteins) polynuclear aromatics and heterocycles (electron-rich and poor heteroaromatics). In the most extensive part, it introduces the principles that guide the synthesis of molecules with particular regards to the fundamental step in the forging of the carbon-carbon bond. This is discussed on the basis of the activated intermediate used (carbanions, radicals, carbenes etc.).
Course Language
Italian
