The course aims to provide basic cultural knowledge on the physiology of the cardiovascular system in normal and pathological conditions, on the causes of deviations from normality and on compensatory mechanisms.

The main topics are: physiology of systemic and pulmonary circulation; physiology of coronary circulation; cardiac function in normal conditions and heart failure; main techniques for the study of the cardiovascular system: baseline and stress electrocardiogram, echocardiography, coronary angiography, right heart catheterization.
