The course aims to provide solid historical, methodological and critical instuments to evaluate the basis of theatre and the art of the actor, with particular attention to the phenomenon of the creation of a "stage name" and the identity problems related to its use in the real life of the artist.

A deep analyses of the exemplary case of Marilyn Monroe will be important, in order to evaluate the dynamics that lead the public name (the character) to prevail on the private name (the person), considering its reflection on creativity.
