Overview

Date/time interval

Secondo Semestre (03/03/2026 - 12/06/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to show students how to replace the function of essential organs such as the kidneys, allowing patients to live for a long time with a good quality of life. At the end of the course students will have a good knowledge of the principles and technique that govern dialysis, and the different types of dialysis. They will know all the major complications and how to avoid or treat them. They will have knowledge of kidney transplantation and the drugs used to avoid rejection

Course Prerequisites

In order to follow the course it is necessary to have basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the kidney

Teaching Methods

The course will consist of lectures interspersed with interactive clinical cases in which the student will be invited to answer the teacher's questions and express their opinion. There will be surveys to evaluate the level of learning during the lessons. At the end of the course, students will be invited to visit the dialysis center where they will be able to see the application of the theory learned during the series of seminars. The teacher will distribute works and reviews on the main innovations in the field of dialysis and transplantation and will discuss them with the students during the lessons

Assessment Methods

Learning will be evaluated at the end of the course with a test
with 30 multiple choice questions. The test will be passed if the student correctly answers at least 18 questions. In subsequent sessions the exam will be oral
