Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the second module the student will reach a intermediate language proficiency B2 (QCER), equivalent to HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) level 4.
At the end of the course the student will be able to analyze and translate various types of written and oral texts.

Course Prerequisites

Only students who passed the exam of Chinese Language I (Advanced Level) / Chinese Language 3 are admitted to take the exam of Chinese 2 (Advanced Level) Language

Teaching Methods

Frontal lessons, Powerpoint presentation, reading Chinese newspapers in cooperative learning

Assessment Methods

The exam will test grammar knowledge, comprehension (both reading and listening) and speaking skills.

Contents

The course aims at providing an intermediate/advanced language proficiency. More specifically, it focuses on the study of grammatical structures of intermediate - advanced level through listening, reading, and translation of different type of texts on current issues related to Chinese culture and contemporary society.

The course is divided into two compulsory modules, Advanced Chinese I (second semester) and Advanced Chinese II (first semester) - nine credits each. Students are suggested to attend classes regularly.
