To know the structuring concepts underlying physiological mechanisms. To integrate, in an overall vision, the knowledge of different biological disciplines. To communicate effectively, also with the help of new teaching strategies, the structuring concepts of biology. To know how to communicate using proper scientific terminology. To plan new laboratory activity for the different topics covered.
Course Prerequisites
In order to acquire the relative knowledge, the student is required to have adequate knowledge of the human physiology. These concepts will however be taken up again at the beginning of the course in a preliminary review of the course content.
Teaching Methods
The lessons include frontal lessons carried out through the presentation of Power Point slides in which videos will be used, and new teaching methodologies, such as: case-based teaching, problem-based teaching, conversational teaching, small group teaching, problem solving, flipped classroom, project-based teaching and gamification. In the laboratory activity, priority will be given to laboratories that are easily transferable to schools. The students will be helped to develop new laboratory activities on specific topic.
Assessment Methods
The exam consists of an oral exam in which the student will have to demonstrate that he has gained knowledge on the topics dealt with during the lessons and has processed the information by operating logic links. Is expected the development of a project for the school.
