Syllabus
Course Objectives
The course goal is to allow students to gain an in-depth understanding of the basic concepts and theories of management.
Students will be able to understand the basic concepts relating to business strategy and competitive dynamics. They will acquire the ability to apply theoretical notions to managerial problems and will be able to analyze competitive environments, markets and business and evaluate alternatives for business decisions. They will be able to communicate with a technical and relevant language externally and in the workplace about the strategic and decision-making aspects of the company.
Course Prerequisites
This is an introductory course to management fundamentals, no pre-requisites are necessary
Teaching Methods
In order to pass the exam an in-depth knowledge of the textbook is required. Lectures are conceived to explain in details the main concepts developed in the book and to present and discuss real-life case studies.
The participation to a group work partnered by the Italian Society of Management is not mandatory, yet highly recommended. PPT slides will be provided during lectures.
Assessment Methods
The final exam is a written exam. There are specific questions aimed at evaluating student's knowledge as well as questions that require a more articulated discussion and are aimed at testing students' comprehension of the basic concept.
Students have 1 hour to answer all the questions in the exam.
Group work allows you to collect additional points (usable only during the summer session).
The exam covers the textbook, and the slides used during lectures.
There are no in itinere assessments. The exam is written with 31 multiple-choice questions. The grading scale is from 0 to 30 with honors, with a passing grade of 18/30. Each correct answer is worth 1 point. Incorrect answers will incur a penalty of 0.20 points each.
The use of a calculator is permitted during the test.
The result of the exam will be communicated via the esse3 system
The acceptance or rejection of the grade must take place in accordance with the current University teaching regulations
