Course Objectives
2nd SEMESTER: PROFESSIONAL SIMULATION INTERNSHIP N. 180 hours - 6 ECTS.
At the end of the internship the student will have developed the knowledge necessary for the promotion and maintenance of health in the context of primary nursing care, in healthy people and in risk conditions, through the analysis of care situations, role playing in simulation scenarios in a protected environment, acquisition of technical-practical skills.
- Role playing and simulation in a protected environment on a medium fidelity simulator: given a care situation, ascertain and define, based on the simulated situation in the home or outpatient setting presented by the actors, the compromised needs of the healthy person or those in risk conditions, the educational interventions aimed at the individual
- Discussion and written elaboration of care situations related to care needs: Identify the care problem and the most appropriate nursing interventions, based on a specific compromised need.
- nursing techniques check list: acquire technical-practical skills regarding the implementation of fundamental techniques of which the theoretical and scientific principles and aspects have been learned in the nursing lessons

Course Prerequisites
The internship is a form of compulsory teaching activity aimed at the acquisition of cognitive, methodological, organizational and relational skills. The activities planned for the internship are aimed at enabling the student to acquire specific skills of professional interest over the three-year period, through simulated internships in protected contexts and in accredited hospital and territorial facilities, as required by the Lombardy Region DGR, in coherence with the project training prepared and in compliance with Legislative Decree no. 81/2008. Internship experiences also constitute pre-socialization to the world of work, developing a professional identity and belonging in the student.
The contents of the courses characterizing MED45 of the first and second semester are preparatory to the professionalizing training activities of the simulated internship and the student is required to attend 100% of the attendance as reported in the teaching regulations and to have attended 100% of the professionalizing laboratories. A percentage of absences lower than 25% of the total number of hours envisaged by the Study Plan can be derogated as a debt to be filled in the following year.

Teaching Methods
Role-playing, simulation, small group discussions, exercises on dummy/trainer
Assessment Methods
The internship exam includes:
Test on technical-practical skills. Extraction of one of the 6 checklists certified during the simulated internship, evaluated out of thirty. The test is considered passed with a minimum score of 18/30. Positive results in this test allow access to the written test described below. If the technique extracted is not sufficient, the exam will be considered failed.
Cognitive skills test: 30 multiple choice questions with a single correct answer. The rating is out of thirty. The test is considered passed with a minimum score of 18/30 and will take place on the UniPv Kirotesting platform.
The mathematical average of the two tests will generate the final grade of the C.I. (expressed in thirtieths).
Students with DSA certified and recognized by the Unipv SAISD Center will be able to take advantage of the compensatory measures recognized to them in the written test.
Overcoming the C.I. of Professional Simulation Internship will allow the student to access the following year.
As per the regulations, an exam session is scheduled for the months of July, September and December.

Contents
1) Role playing and simulation in a protected environment on a medium fidelity simulator: students will face one of the proposed scenarios, based on hygiene and self-care needs, cardiovascular risk, intestinal elimination. The scenarios involve the student participating by impersonating himself and meeting the patient in the clinic or at home. From the interview/objective examination/observation, compromised needs must be identified and educational interventions implemented. The simulation includes moments of briefing, self-assessment, debriefing led by tutors, in small groups.
2) Discussion and written elaboration of care situations related to care needs: the student will analyze and discuss the proposed situations (healthy person and person in risk conditions - hygiene and self-care, eating and drinking/moving and maintaining a correct position in the the area of cardiovascular risk) by applying the theoretical knowledge acquired in the nursing teaching of the 1st and 2nd semester, respecting the phases of the care process.
3) nursing techniques checklist: the student will carry out fundamental nursing techniques (male/female perineal hygiene, performing evacuation tube, blood pressure measurement, oral cavity hygiene, social hand washing) on low fidelity mannequins/trainers. The student will have to practice until they acquire the ability to autonomously and safely execute the technique, under tutorial supervision and the acquired skill will be certified.
