The course aims to make students acquire the fundamental principles of physiology and pathology of the female genital system, of the reproductive process and of the health of women in different ages of life and in particular situations of discomfort and risk.
Course Prerequisites
The knowledge required and recommended upon entry refers to the contents of the disciplines of the first year of studies relating to anatomy and physiology, general and clinical pathology and immunology and of the second year for internal medicine, general surgery, pharmacology and medical oncology.
Teaching Methods
15 hours of lectures with the aid of shareable audiovisual material.
Assessment Methods
Usually we performed a multiple choises written examination. during the COVID Pandemia we adopted an oral examination by internet connection

-Hints of anatomy and physiology of the female genital system: the ovarian and uterine cycle, their characteristics, variables and pathologies. -The contraceptive methods -Screening of cervico-vaginal pathology: Pap test, colposcopy, HPV, dysplasia and cervical carcinoma. - Physiological pregnancy: the birth path, pregnancy hygiene, warning signs, preconceptional control exams, those recommended during pregnancy, ministerial protocols (LEA) in the most recent versions. - Pelvic masses and abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB). Screening for ovarian and endometrial cancer. The "minimal or office" ultrasound.
