The course aims to teach students nursing care skills about women, children and adolescents' health promotion. At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand and define clinical, care, educational and relational contents for gynaecological and maternity care, using interventions supported by scientific evidence.
Course Prerequisites
The recommended knowledge refers to the disciplines that characterise the 1st year, along with fundamentals of anatomy and physiology of the female genital apparatus, microbiology and pathology.
Teaching Methods
The course utilises lectures and case studies. PowerPoint presentations are used to conduct the lectures and are made available to students in the teaching section on the KIRO Moodle platform.
Assessment Methods
The learning test will be administered in written form and will consist of 15 multiple-choice or short-answer open-ended questions. The test is evaluated in thirtieths; for each correct answer, a maximum score of 2 points will be awarded. The test duration is one hour.

Contents
An in-depth study of nursing care in gynaecological and maternal-infant care will be proposed during the course. Specifically, through lectures and case studies, the following topics will be addressed: - Nursing care in the context of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and especially HPV - Pre-conception nursing care and PMA - Pregnancy care and the guideline SNLG-ISS Linea Guida Gravidanza Fisiologica - Birth care and nursing care in the delivery room - Nursing care in the postnatal and breastfeeding promotion - Multidisciplinary collaboration in major obstetric emergencies and urgencies - Pre-, intra- and post-operative nursing care for women undergoing obstetric and gynaecological surgery
