General objective At the end of the course, the student will be able to describe the basic nursing care interventions to plan and implement in order to meet the health needs of elderly people.
Specific goals - Define the specific characteristics of the elderly person and the frailty condition; - Know and know how to use the main tools for the multidimensional assessment of the frail elderly; - Analyze the objectives of nursing care and the areas of intervention of the nurse towards the elderly person and the caregiver; - Describe the network of services dedicated to the elderly with particular reference to Integrated Home Care, the voucher system of the Lombardia region, and the role of the case manager; - Analyze the role of the nurse towards people with dementia, with particular reference to Alzheimer's disease.
Teaching Methods
- Frontal lessons; - Watching a film about the onset of Alzheimer's disease; - Discussion of a clinical case through the analysis of the needs of the elderly.
Assessment Methods
The exam will be written, with multiple choice questions.
