Abstract:
The Computer Vision & Multimedia Lab (CVML) of the University of Pavia’s Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering, in co-operation with the SmartLab of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, helped set up the Exhibition entitled “1525-2015. Pavia, the Battle, the Future. Nothing was the same again” which was open to the public at the Visconti Castle in Pavia from June 13 to November 29, 2015. Multimedia/multimodal solutions were developed that took the visiting public through 3D reconstructions, virtual simulations, gaze and gesture interactions with the exhibits.
The Exhibition, which was the result of interaction and collaboration between the City and the University, was an opportunity to test and introduce these applications in which art, science and technology met up. Particular attention was paid to accessibility thanks to the tapestries’ transposition into tactile images, which benefited partially-sighted and blind people.
The book describes and draws conclusions about these activities.
