Adenoma sebaceo solitario. Marker di sindrome di Muir-Torre?

Academic Article
Publication Date:
1998
abstract:
A 55 year-old man presenting with a solitary sebaceous adenoma in which successively multiple carcinoma of the colon were found is reported. Family history was positive for polyposis and colonic neoplasms but negative for cutaneous sebaceous neoplasms. The Muir-Torre syndrome is a genodermatosis associated with visceral malignancies and multiple cutaneous sebaceous tumors. If a single cutaneous neoplasm with sebaceous differentiation should be considered as marker for this syndrome is debated. The observation of a solitary sebaceous neoplasm, especially when a family history for colonic neoplasms is obtained, should alert the clinician to the possibility of Muir- Torre syndrome.
