Observation of single isolated electrons of high transverse momentum in events with missing transverse energy at the CERN p-antip collider

We report the results of a search for single isolated electrons of high transverse momentum: four events with large missing transverse energy has been found whose configuration and number are consistent with the production of W boson predicted by the electroweak theory.
