A number of characters appear in Smith’s work, man appears in many different variants: selfloving,
altruistic, prudent, virtuous, impartial, benevolent, sympathetic, labouring poor, rich(of
course), middling rank, prone to vanity. We have one man for each passion plus infinite
combinations. We will introduce only five types of man, possibly those characters who can be of interest to modern economics
