abstract:
Is social theatre a practice that promotes intercultural processes?
The prison context presents a series of complexities that make it a highly conflictual environment also because of its multiculturalism (inmates with a migrant background are about 30% of the total prison population). For this reason it represents an ideal application context where to explore the intercultural potential of social theatre. Pursuing this objective, after a preliminary introduction on social theatre and an overview of social theatre activities in prison in Italy, the article means to investigate the experience of the social theatre workshop held since 2020 in the San Vittore prison in Milan.
