Wer erklärt das Gesetz des Königs? Die Glossatoren des Liber augustalis im Königreich Sizilien
Libro
Data di Pubblicazione:
2024
Abstract:
The volume focuses on the jurists of the Kingdom of Sicily who glossed the Liber Augustalis (1231), the earliest legal corpus of the Western Middle Ages promulgated by Frederick II. These judges, active in Frederick's Sicilian magna curia, played a crucial role in interpreting and elucidating the king's law, and their originality marks them as pioneers of a new and independent legal tradition. For the first time, this book thoroughly investigates their work, tracing their professional profile within their social and cultural context and shedding new light on a pivotal moment in Western legal culture and political history.
