Selective Oxidation of Alcohols to Carbonyls Under Decatungstate-Mediated Photoelectrochemical Conditions

abstract:
The selective conversion of both benzylic and aliphatic alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds has been realized under photoelectrochemical conditions mediated by the decatungstate anion. Comparison with chemical oxidant-promoted and electrochemical conditions demonstrated the superior efficiency of the photoelectrochemical manifold, thanks to the mild conditions involved.
