abstract:

The performance of resistive plate counters 1 × 2 m2 in size has been studied with a 5 Gev/c positive pion beam of the CERN PS. Efficiency, delay and time resolution at local particle rates ranging from ≈ 10 up to ≈ 139 Hz/cm2 are reported.
