Obiettivi Formativi
Il corso mira a fornire competenze metodologiche di base indispensabili per leggere, tradurre e commentare un testo letterario. Inoltre, obiettivo formativo del corso è iniziare lo studente all'analisi del rapporto tra singoli testi e il contesto culturale da cui sono sorti.
Prerequisiti
Il corso si rivolge agli studenti del secondo e del terzo anno. Gli studenti del secondo anno devono aver superato gli esami di Lingua e Letteratura inglese 1; gli studenti del terzo anno devono aver superato gli esami di Lingua e Letteratura inglese 2 prima di poter sostenere l'esame.
Si richiede una conoscenza dell'inglese tale da consentire di seguire le lezioni, leggere i testi e sostenere l’esame in lingua.
È opportuno che tutti gli studenti, frequentanti e non frequentanti, conoscano i principali avvenimenti storici del periodo trattato.

Metodi didattici
Lezioni frontali in inglese. Durante le lezioni verranno discussi i periodi letterari di riferimento, anche grazie a presentazioni in Powerpoint; i testi primari in programma verranno letti, tradotti e commentati in classe.

Verifica Apprendimento
L’esame è orale, in lingua inglese.
Per superare l’esame, tutti gli studenti dovranno:
- Conoscere i principali eventi storici dei periodi trattati.
- Saper integrare quanto appreso durante il corso con gli approfondimenti contenuti nella bibliografia critica, soprattutto per quanto riguarda la discussione di tendenze culturali e letterarie.
- Leggere, tradurre e commentare i testi primari.
Per gli studenti frequentanti, è prevista la preparazione di una breve presentazione in aula basata su un testo concordato con la docente (25% della valutazione).
Per superare l’esame, tutti gli studenti dovranno:
- Conoscere i principali eventi storici dei periodi trattati.
- Saper integrare quanto appreso durante il corso con gli approfondimenti contenuti nella bibliografia critica, soprattutto per quanto riguarda la discussione di tendenze culturali e letterarie.

Durante le lezioni si leggeranno e commenteranno testi poetici dei principali autori inglesi del diciottesimo e diciannovesimo secolo.
L'elenco dei brani analizzati durante le lezioni e da preparare per l'esame orale (anche per gli studenti non frequentanti) sarà a disposizione sulla piattaforma KIRO.
In aggiunta, tutti gli studenti leggeranno autonomamente tre romanzi tra quelli indicati qui sotto.
