On successful completion of the module, students will be able to demonstrate: Knowledge and Understanding LO.1 Describe the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic approaches and principles of treatment of common bacterial, viral and parasitic infections. LO.2 Explain the mechanisms of action and clinical use of the main antimicrobial agents, including antibacterial, antiviral and antiparasitic therapies. Applying Knowledge and Understanding LO.3 Recognise common infectious disease presentations and apply a syndromic approach to the diagnosis and management of infections affecting different organ systems. LO.4 Integrate clinical findings, laboratory investigations and microbiological information to support the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Making Judgements LO.5 Evaluate clinical information to support appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic decisions in patients with common infectious diseases.

Metodi didattici
Teaching is delivered through face-to-face lectures, clinical case presentations, seminars and, where appropriate, bedside teaching during infectious disease ward rounds. Lectures provide the theoretical foundations required to understand the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic approaches and treatment of common infectious diseases, including the principles of antimicrobial therapy (LO.1–LO.2). Clinical case discussions allow students to apply a syndromic approach to infectious diseases by integrating clinical presentation, microbiological findings and therapeutic strategies (LO.3–LO.5). Bedside teaching during infectious disease ward activities provides opportunities to observe the clinical application of diagnostic and therapeutic principles and to discuss real patient cases under supervision (LO.3–LO.5). Students may also participate in the presentation of selected clinical cases and scientific papers during journal club activities, supporting the application of evidence-based approaches to infectious disease management.
