At the end of the course, the student will demonstrate: 1. a good knowledge of the biological mechanisms regulating eukaryotic cell growth and behaviour in culture. 2. a good understanding of the biological parameters reflecting cell health, growth and phenotype. 3. a good knowledge and understanding of the technologies applicable to assess cell behaviour and in vitro response. 4. the potential to apply the acquired knowledge to understand and interpret scientific results presented in relevant scientific literature.
Prerequisiti
Good knowledge of biological mechanisms related to the cell cycle; embryogenesis; DNA structure and replication; transcription; translation; apoptosis; cell signalling.
Metodi didattici
Lectures and lab practicals supported by slide presentations. For some topics, use of multimedia animations.
Verifica Apprendimento
The exam consists of a written test with a mix of questions such as multiple choice questions and open-ended questions. The student should demonstrate not only knowledge of the topics covered but also the ability to link them together.
Testi
Scientific articles and reviews from selected international journals.
