Efficacy of propafenone in paramyotonia congenita

We studied a 42-year-old man belonging to a large family with
several affected members including his two sons.
He had received mexiletine, 200 mg
three times daily.
Clinical symptoms were measured by the Muscular Disability
Rating Scale, before
and after 1-month treatment with PH. Electrophysiologic investigations
were also performed before and after treatment.
After PH treatment, the patient reported complete relief from
symptoms, without adverse effects.
