The Course aims to extend the understanding of cultural institutions under a managerial perspective and consequently to acquire knowledge on the principles and techniques that enable their rational and sustainable management. After an introduction of the basic notions of organization, management and heritage, with particular regard to the cultural sector, the course focuses on the morphological and physiological features of the organizations in charge of the conservation, promotion and enhancement of the cultural heritage within the cultural and creative production ecosystem. Furthermore, the principles and techniques of planning and controlling the value created by cultural organizations from the perspective of sustainability will be proposed. At the end of the course, students may acquire a greater awareness of the modus operandi of cultural organizations and of their role for the sustainable development within the cultural and creative production system; they may analyze cultural organizations in the managerial perspective and apply design principles and techniques for the promotion and enhancement of cultural heritage.
Course Prerequisites
The course of Management provides a basic knowledge that does not require a specific background, apart from what is recommended for the admission of the degree programme.
Teaching Methods
The course is based on lectures integrated with case studies, developed and discussed in the classroom, exercises and project works.
Assessment Methods
The exam consists of a written test on the entire program. During the course, project works will be proposed, aimed at verifying the learning of technical notions. The mark of the project works will contribute to the final assessment.
