832 / 5.000 The main objective of the course is to provide students with the philosophical tools to reflect on the nature of the human sciences, that is, those disciplines that, like anthropology and psychoanalysis, deal with the understanding of otherness and the idea that such understanding is constitutive of the self-reflexive process. Understanding of different models of knowledge: neo-empiricist, hermeneutic, and neo-Kantian. Understanding of the dialectic between relativism and objectivism in specific disciplines of inquiry (anthropology, sociology, historiography, psychology), with particular attention to the problem of the methodological status of psychoanalysis, in light of the most recent studies on neurobiological reductionism and the effectiveness of psychotherapy. Understanding of the foundations of Lacanian psychoanalysis.

None. The course is intended for any philosophy and psychology student, of any year.

Contents
The course will be divided into two parts. The first will be introductory: it will examine the neo-empiricist approach to knowledge, the model of hermeneutic understanding, and the characteristics of a neo-Kantian research program aimed at analyzing processes of objectification. The following topics will be addressed: - The sciences as procedures of objectification - Analysis of the notion of object in various philosophical models - The relationship between language and the world in logical empiricism, neo-Kantianism, and hermeneutics - Analysis of the descriptive use of language - Comparison of different models of knowledge. The second part of the course will focus on the specific practices of objectification in various human sciences. The topics covered will be the following: - The epistemological and ontological status of psychoanalysis - The relationship between metapsychology and clinical case in light of the pluralism of psychoanalytic models - Neuropsychoanalysis and neurobiological reductionism - Cultural relativism in anthropology - Naturalism and constructivism in sociology - Epistemology of historiography - Foundations of Lacanian clinic
