The main aim of this module is to introduce the students to the main theoretical and empirical elements of Social Psychology. Specific learning outcomes include:
• Knowledge and understanding, and the ability to explain the historical development, and the main theories and empirical results within the field of Social Psychology.
• The ability to autonomously and critically analyze the literature in the field of Social Psychology and to suggest alternative solutions.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of psychological theories and methods, and English.

Assessment Methods
The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of the topic, critical analysis, and oral presentation skills. The summative assessment consists of an oral exam.
The summative assessment consists of:
• a in itinere written exam (partial exam) – an oral exam in the subsequent exam sessions.
Formative assessment consists of:
• the verbal feedback students will receive to their answers to the discussion questions during the lectures.

Contents
This module will provide an introduction to the discipline of social psychology by examining its historical development, its main constructs and processes. The indicative content of the module includes:
• Introduction: definition and development of Social Psychology. • Obedience to authority. • Ethical aspects of psychological research and replicability. • Prejudice. • Social categorization. • Stereotypes. • Political psychology. • Dehumanization, infrahumanization and objectification. • Impression formation. • Conclusions, revision, and summary.
