The course will provide students with a wide knowledge about modern and contemporary Germany from different points of view. Geography, history, political institutions, culture and literature will be the principal fields of investigation. At course end students should be able to expound all course items in fluent German.
Course Prerequisites
Intermediate German or B2.
Teaching Methods
Lectures based on powerpoint slides, written texts, videos and films. Comprehension will be tested.
Assessment Methods
The examination will be held mainly in German and will be aimed at testing the knowledge acquired during the course.
Texts
The whole stuff uploaded on Kiro is to be considered as mandatory.. For non-attendng students: in addition to this must be studied all non mandatory stuff. For students belonging to protected categories is foreseen a reduction of the videos. Non-mandatory bibliography: Gustavo Corni: Storia della Germania, 2017 (chapters about 19th and 20th century).
Contents
The course tries to give a full framework of information concerning modern and actual Germany from 1871 to the present, with particular reference to history, geography, politics, culture, social reality.

Eventually recorded lessons will be uploaded in the course folder on Kiro. They don't substitute lessons in presence. Special and certified categories of students may contact the teacher for further information. Distance student assistance is also provided for them. For foreign students: the course will be held primarily in German, but Italian will be often used.
