The main objective of the course is to teach the student on the main analytical procedure to carry out tests on biological matrices and seized material, with forensic purposes
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge about toxicology is needed for the student approaching the course. Tolerance, drugs of abuse, metabolism, psychoactive substances should be known.
Teaching Methods
The program will be carry out through frontal lessons and discussion of real cases, after anonymization. The student will be encouraged to actively partecipate in the discussion of real cases
Assessment Methods
Multiple choice quiz. A number of questions ranging from 20 to 25. The maximum grade is 31, corresponding to 30 cum laude. The questions have 5 different answers; only one answer is right

Contents
The program of the course is divided in different parts: a) firstly the student will learn how to prepare the most frequently used biological samples, namely blood urine and hair; b) alcohol biomarkers will be discussed in depth and basic information about analytical procedures to measure them in biological specimens will be provided; c) principles of chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry technique will be introduce; d) main parameters of method validation of procedures of forensic interest will be provided
