Syllabus

Course Objectives

The main objective of the teaching is to provide knowledge regarding the field of health care organization. Through the course of training, the student will acquire theoretical and practical skills related to the structural and managerial functioning of the health care company, with specific references to the areas of obstetrical competence and in accordance with the regulations set forth in the national collective bargaining agreement for the category.
The expected learning outcomes are as follows:
1. To know the hierarchical and functional organizational structure of a health care company and the National Collective Bargaining Agreement of the category; to remember the concepts related to clinical governance and understand their applications especially in the areas of risk management and quality improvement.To know the National Collective Bargaining Agreement of the category; to remember its main articles and understand their repercussions in the work environment.
2. Apply the knowledge acquired to daily clinical practice, becoming able to contextualize the theoretical concepts learned to the scope of midwifery expertise.
3. Know how to analyze a given care scenario in light of the knowledge gained to assess the appropriateness of care delivered by applying the criterion of evidence-based continuous quality improvement.
4. Know how to communicate acquired knowledge with appropriate linguistic and lexical appropriateness in both written and oral form.
5. Be able to act in a multidisciplinary team setting, modifying care delivered individually and otherwise, through continuous review of its quality. Know how to critically and constructively self-evaluate one's own work, learning to compare it with the care protocols and procedures of the facility in which one works or, in their absence, what is definable as medicine based on the latest scientific evidence.

Course Prerequisites

The knowledge of the main regulatory references concerning the midwifery profession, it is required as a prerequisite for students in the course. Furthermore, the three health reforms that have occurred since the establishment of the NHS (l. 833 of 1978)must be known, as well as the subsequent regulatory acts concerning the specific areas of competence and autonomy for the practice of the profession.

Assessment Methods

Written examination with multiple-choice and open-ended questions. Subsequent oral examination.
