The module aims to introduce the student to the physiological and clinical bases of the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) In particular, the student will learn the anatomical and biomechanical bases of the TMJ. The main pathologies affecting it and the benefits and implications of physiotherapy treatment will be discussed. The clinical assessment of the patient will be explored in depth. For some pathologies, the rehabilitation programs related to therapeutic exercise will be described to obtain improvement of articulation, muscle stretching and muscle strengthening.
Course Prerequisites
The student should have the essential knowledge of anatomy, physical and rehabilitation medicine.
Teaching Methods
The course is based on lessons with PowerPoint presentations. After the presentation, discussion among all students is encouraged and moderated by the professor
