The course aims to: • Develop the logical and critical skills necessary to address clinical physiotherapy reasoning in the assessment, treatment and follow-up phases of the patient; • Strengthen the ability to independently consult international scientific literature and the main rehabilitation manuals; • Support students in acquiring greater clinical awareness and structured case communication. Students will be able to: - Analyse a clinical case starting from relevant anamnestic data; - Select assessment tests and validated scales for functional diagnosis; - Integrate the results of the assessment with scientific literature; - Formulate a reasoned and personalised treatment plan; - Contribute to the critical discussion of clinical cases in a collegial context.
Course Prerequisites
Students must have a basic knowledge of: • Anatomy, physiology, neurophysiology • Orthopaedics, rheumatology, neurology • Geriatrics, cardiology, pulmonology • Physical medicine and rehabilitation It is also desirable that students have already completed professional internships and gained experience in taking medical histories and performing physical examinations in physiotherapy.
Teaching Methods
During each meeting, students present to their colleagues the contents of a clinical case developed according to the presentation scheme (pathology presentation, anamnesis, physical examination, evaluation scales, functional diagnosis, and treatment). After the presentation, discussion among all students is encouraged and moderated by the professor and by the tutor.
Assessment Methods
The assessment will be oral and will be based on: • The quality of the student's oral presentation of the clinical case; • The completeness and consistency of the clinical reasoning presented; • The correct use of scientific and clinical terminology; • The ability to interact in discussions with colleagues, demonstrating critical thinking, competence and up-to-date knowledge; • The quality of the bibliographic sources used. The final score will also take into account the clarity of the presentation, the depth of analysis, active participation in discussions and methodological accuracy in the presentation of the case.
