The course will begin with an analysis of the methodological tools of the World History approach and will focus on a review of the categories of "space" and "time." Social and cultural phenomena, as well as economic and historical processes that have characterized and linked different realities in the modern and contemporary era, will be discussed. During this historical period, particular attention will be given to the study of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The historiographical category of "empire" will be explored through a comparative study of different imperial and colonial experiences, within which the processes that led to the development of revolts and revolutions, the construction of the state, and the spread of the concept of nationalism, the paths to independence, and the creation and discussion of borders will be analyzed. Emphasis will also be placed on the presence of trans-imperial and trans-colonial connections and exchange networks, situating the different realities studied within a broader framework of international relations.
