Lectures aim at inquiring into a theme relevant to ancient thought, analyzing it both from a theoretical standpoint and in its historical and cultural implications. Students will be encouraged to actively participate in reading and commenting on the selected ancient texts, as well as in critically examining the proposed secondary literature. Regular attendance to the lessons is strongly recommended. It is expected that at the end of the course students will have fully acquired the ability to read the ancient sources in a critical and rigorous way, to comment and discuss secondary literature, and to autonomously examine a specific topic in further detail.
