Course Objectives
The course, divided into two parts, initially aims to provide an overview of the adolescent's psychological development from a physical, cognitive, emotional, moral and social point of view, also in the light of new scientific evidence. In the first part of the course, therefore, the typical developmental tasks of adolescence and the physical, cognitive and moral changes that characterize the adolescent will be illustrated.
The second part of the course, within an evolutionary psychodynamic framework, will focus on the methodological and practical aspects underlying a psychodiagnosis in adolescence.
The methods will be illustrated not only to obtain a nosographic diagnosis (in line with DSM-5), but also at a psychodynamic and evolutionary level.
The practical tools used to complete what has already been learned in previous courses, the importance of a clinical interview and the preferential use and clinical utility in therapeutic work with adolescents will be explored.
Finally, after a rapid contextualization of the aspects of serious suffering in adolescence, clinically highlighted with serious attacks on the body (eating disorders, suicidality, social withdrawal...), role plays will be carried out to illustrate the practical and methodological applications of what has been previously illustrated and allow the student to better understand and organize a psychodiagnostic reasoning in the field of adolescent psychopathology.
At the end of the course students will be able to:
a) to know the main stages and characteristics of socio-emotional development in adolescence
b) to know the main stages and characteristics of adolescent neuro-biological development
c) to know the main theories related to the psychology of adolescence
d) to know and identify the main mechanisms linked to psychopathology in adolescence and serious attacks on the body through the use of testing instruments and clinical interviews
e) to know some models of intervention on the adolescent and his family in the event of an evolutionary failure in the growth path

Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of clinical and developmental (and adolescent) psychology and test theory and technique are a good prerequisite
Teaching Methods
The course is conducted through frontal teaching
Frontal teaching, analysis of clinical cases, role play, discussion groups
Due to the sensitivity of the clinical topics covered, the teacher does not authorize any type of acquisition, reproduction or sharing of audiovisual material obtained from the lessons
For each CFU (20 hours) is expected
4 hours of teaching in DE delivery mode, i.e frontal teaching (content presentation via slides, scientific papers and videos)
2 hours of interactive teaching - DI (guided exercises, small group work between peers, role-play, critical discussion in a small group on topics provided by the teacher)
14 hours of self-study on the texts of the course bibliography, on the slides provided and on the scientific articles indicated
